Celebration of the 40th anniversary of signing the Paris agreements

Celebration of the 40th anniversary of signing the Paris agreements which led to withdrawer of the US occupation forces from South Vietnam

 

The Vietnamese union of friendship organization organizes an international celebration for the 40th anniversary of signing the Paris agreements.  It was attended by 33 international figures from international non-governmental organizations, ambassadors and members of diplomatic corps, in addition to prominence social and cultural figures.



The secretary general of AAPSO Mr. Nouri Abdul Razzak was invited to this importuned event.  He played a solidarity role with the Vietnamese people for more than four decades in the straggle against French colonialism and US occupation.

Mr. Nouri Abdul Razzak led an international youth and students delegation when he was general secretary of the international union of students to Vietnam in 1968 during the height of the bombing.  He also in the same year took part in international delegation to support diplomatic effort of the South Vietnam liberation front in Paris and to express the international support for the front in their negotiation.

When he took his new post in the AAPSO he engaged himself through AAPSO to extend utmost solidarity with the Vietnamese people through international meetings, conferences, gathering etc.   AAPSO gave an adequate support for the interim government of South Vietnam to gain diplomatic recognition.

It was an important celebration.  The Vietnamese people were overwhelmed by happiness to test their victory and their unity.  Vietnam witnessed economic, social and cultural progress.  State leaders, senior official and important political and social figures, attended the celebration.  The ceremonies took place in Hanoi the capital, and then were completed in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).   Some of the foreign delegations left at the end of the celebration to Con daw island where the Vietnamese political prisoners where imprisoned and tortured, during French colonialism and US occupation.

This event summarized the lessons learned from the Vietnamese experience and the long and hard way of the Vietnamese people march till the victory.

Major international celebration will take place in 2015, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the defeat of US occupation forces and the unification of Vietnam.
